Number 9

Nine -- that's how many publishers now are publishing my music.  I just added the 9th today -- Alfred.  Tammy Waldrop has accepted a level 1 arrangement of Hark! the Herald Angels Sing which will be in their 2011 release.  That makes thirty-three handbell pieces accepted, and five in just about the past month.  I still have four pieces out there, and with school ending this Friday, I plan to get forging ahead on composing starting next week.

I also realize I'm behind (or soon to be) on the Year of Insanity, but I have every faith I'll get all the music written I want, and probably overshoot a bit, since I only need to write ten pieces in the next two months.  With no school and piano all summer at church, that ought to be easy.  I hope to focus in on handbell and choral music both this summer, with a smattering of instrumental pieces thrown in.

I've also decided to pass on submitting something to the Houston FebFest composition contest -- I just have so many other irons in the fire right now that it's one thing too many.  There are other composition contests out there, so when the competition bug bites me again, I can look for one of those.  In the meantime, I'm just going to write the music I want to write, then submit it and see if anyone bites.
