Saturday Summary, March 17, 2012

Top o' the mornin' to ye.  While I don't usually care much of a whit about St. Patrick's Day, the creative part of my brain said I should make today's font green, just for fun and whimsy.

I'm really hoping that's not the best it's got for me today ...

Music -- I had nearly a full week of mornings at home, which means I had plenty of time to compose.  I did finish up the compatible Palm Sunday arrangements and sent them off to the editor, and also have finished the preliminary rough draft of the Christmas medley I had alluded to last week.  With the latter, all I have to do is make sure I'm happy with it as it is, then add in the markings (articulations, tempo, dynamics, etc. -- all that stuff I just hate doing, but which is o, so important) and extra octaves for the larger ensembles.  If I can find a couple of hours this weekend, I ought to be able to finish that up, and can then turn my sights on to other things.

Writing -- I have finally put Fealty and Fire on my schedule, meaning that once I get the preceding projects out of the way, I'll turn my full attention to the book.  I'm hopeful that a couple of weeks of concerted effort will let me get it finished up, and then I can move on to other things.

Publishing -- I think we're in that bi-annual lull where not much seems to be happening with the publishers, that season between the end of one release and the start of the other.  I'm expecting that to start changing about mid-April, but for now, I'll just sit back and focus on the creating part of the equation.

That's all from here.  Here's hoping you get a chance to enjoy the green beverage of your choice while you're creating today.  Have a fantastic weekend!
