Okay, so I've been noticeably lax about posting lately. I'd say I'd try to do better, but it'd be worse to make a promise and then break it, right?
Anyway, a lot of great stuff on the creative fronts. I'll give you a quick run-down here:
-Got two more proofs and contracts from Beckenhorst, bringing the total to 4 which will be coming out this April or May: "Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella", "God Rest Ye Merry", "The Holly and the Ivy", and an original, "Answer the Call."
-Doug Wagner at Lorenz accepted a 2-3 octave arrangement of "We Believe In One True God", which will appear in the Lorenz "Ring and Rejoice" magazine at some point in the future.
-Heard from Alan Lohr at SoundForth and he's accepted a 2-3 octave arrangement of "What Child Is This" (which was the work of one of our snow days in early February. He also let me know I have contracts and proofs in the mail for my forthcoming pieces, which again should be available late spring or early summer.
And that's just on the music side of things. I don't usually mention it here, but I'm also an author and have a young adult novel (the first of a series) which I've been working on for the better part of eight years. In January I submitted it to the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest (www.amazon.com/abna). They only took 5,000 entries in the Young Adult category, and today they announced the 1,000 which will be advancing to round two, and mine was one of them. Needless to say it was quite exciting to find that out, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how far I can make it in the contest. Still, like with publishing, nothing much to do but sit back and see what happens.
In the meantime, I'll keep on composing and doing what I do, since that's the only way to stay sane.
So, here's hoping that I'll get back here soon with more good news, and even if I don't have any news, here's hoping I'll post something worthwhile here in the meantime.
