Saturday Summary, July 7, 2012

It's been a busy couple of days here, but more than that, it's been a hot couple of days here -- today we'll be well over 100 for about the fifth straight day.  As nasty as it is outside, it's wonderful weather for staying in and creating...

Music -- I spent a couple of hours this week working on some piano music, as well as a handbell commission I have due at the end of the month.  I plan on spending quite a bit of time this coming week on said commission, since the week after that, I'll be at the Handbell Musicians of America National Seminar, and probably won't be doing much composing of any sort.

Writing -- It's now seven days into the Year of Insanity 2, and thus far, I've managed to make my goal of writing 1,000 words every day.  Much of it is drivel, and none of it is in a publishable format, but I've sat down every day for the past six and put in my time and effort.  On top of that, I've made some wonderful discoveries about my Sadonian Chronicles I hadn't known before, so that's always nice.

And speaking of The Sadonian Chronicles, I've spent a lot of time this week finalizing files for the various versions of Fealty and Fire, and I believe they're all set to go.  In addition, I've been working with an amazing cover designer named Donna Casey who has been not only designing the cover for Fealty and Fire, but has hone back and redone the cover for The Coming of the Heroes.  You can check it out on the main page of The Creative over at the left.  It will take a while for the new cover to filter through the Amazon site and other places, so if the cover looks old and boring, just wait!

Publishing -- I received word from Beckenhorst this week that they've accepted both my original composition Little One (which is the handbell arrangement of a cradle song I wrote before my son Daniel was born), and my arrangement of Here We Come A-wassailing.  Both should be showing up at retailers around next May.

That's it from here -- it's been a full and fun week, want many, many ups, and not a whole lot of downs (though wrestling with Microsoft Word to try to get the print version of Fealty and Fire correctly formatted certainly qualifies as a "down").  Stay cool out there, have a great week, and we'll see you back here Wednesday.
