Saturday Summary, June 23, 2012

As I got ready for bed last night, it occurred to me I had a Saturday Summary to write for today, which seems totally impossible because I feel like I just wrote one.  Sorry to say, this one will be a little on the spare side...

Music -- I worked a little bit on a couple of different handbell pieces, but sort of stalled out on all of them.  I hope to get back at them and try to tackle one or two into submission in the next week.  I also hope to arrange some more pieces for piano here very soon, as well.

Writing -- I've discovered a new site that's piqued my interest -- penzu.com.  It's an online journaling application that keeps your entries encrypted and, as long as you're okay limiting yourself to just one journal and some very basic fonts, won't cost you a dime (though a year-long membership to their Pro version is just $19, so even then, it won't break the bank).  It has a word count feature, and the ability, if you so choose, to share your entries with other people or the world.  As with many of the free things out there on the web, it's really quite a deal. 

So anyway, I've played around with it some and tried to use it to organize my ideas.  No "serious" writing this week, though I hope that will change in the near future.

Publishing -- I received a proof of my forthcoming Dormi, Dormi, O Bel Bambin for handbells from GIA, which I looked over, corrected, and sent back.  I think we're pretty close to the end of the current segment of the publishing cycle, so I'm betting I won't see any more proofs from anyone for several weeks. 

I suppose my next task is to get some pieces of music actually written so I can submit again.  It's been such a crazy, topsy-turvy year that I think I can count on the ten fingers of my hands how many pieces I've submitted to publishers.  Hopefully that number can start creeping upward again in the next week or two.
