It's been a relatively smooth and productive week here. On the positive side, I think I'm slowly growing used to the idea of sleep deprivation as a way of life. On the negative side, should anything happen right now to my beloved coffee maker, I think I'll curl up in the nearest corner and cry.
Music -- I've spent this week working on some new piano pieces. With summer coming up, that means it's time for me to transition from the organ at the back of the sanctuary to the piano at the front, and I like to have some new music to play when I do. I've got an arrangement and an original finished already, and hope to have another of each done by the end of the weekend or early next week.
Writing -- Right now I'm waiting on my lovely wife to finish going over Fealty and Fire so I can incorporate her edits before going over the book again myself. I'm still hopeful I can have it -- at least in ebook format -- available sometime in June, hopefully with the print book not far behind.
Publishing -- There were a lot of little things here this week. I've looked at part of a proof, had a piece accepted officially (long story there), had a forthcoming piece receive it's third name (remind me to do a post sometime called "Naming is Hard!"), and received another contract and proof. I'm also starting to hear rumblings of what some of the various publishers are going to be doing at the Handbell Musicians of America National Seminar in Cincinnati this July, and it sounds like there's going to be more music presented than ever before. Back when I didn't write much music and didn't have much being published, it always felt like the publishing world moved in slow, half-year cycles and there were down times. With as much as I have published now, it seems like I'm hearing from some editor or other at least once a week or so. If nothing else, it keeps me on my toes.
That's it from here. It's felt good to once more be writing music -- not that I don't enjoy working on my novels, but my heart is still all about the composing -- and it looks like I've got several projects lined up for the next couple of weeks, so I ought to stay happily busy for the foreseeable future. Until Wednesday, have a fantastic weekend, and happy creating!
