Sleeping in until 9:00 in the morning is a wonderful thing -- great for the health and attitude, and just all-around wonderful. Of course, when one went to bed at 10:00 and was up for a total of three or four hours of the night and only sleeping fitfully in-between times ... well, it loses some of its attraction.
Music -- Despite not planning on writing any music this week, I had an emergency need for an organ arrangement of "The Old Rugged Cross." It's done, finished, and will get played in church tomorrow.
Writing -- I've plowed through maybe a third of Fealty and Fire, making smallish changes and trying to tighten the piece up. It always amazes me how just walking away from a novel for a couple of months can bring you back to it with fresh eyes and a brand-new perspective. I hope and pray I can take a good part of today to hammer through some more of it -- short stints are nice, but before I can call the thing finished, I think I'm going to need several nice, long, uninterrupted stretches to really get into the book and make some changes.
Publishing -- On the whole, not much here. I did receive my comp copies of my two newest from Lorenz: The Bread and the Cup, and Christmas Toys on Parade (an arrangement of a choral arrangement I was asked to write). If you haven't seen them yet, I invite you to check them out.
More and more of the new releases are showing up on publisher and retailer sites, so I'll try to keep pointing them out as I see them. No new acceptances or rejections lately ... mainly because I haven't submitted anything. In this case, no news is to be expected.
That's all from here. A fantastic week to you all, and we'll look for you back here on Wednesday morning.
