One of the joys of being a new father is that I can wake up guilt-free twelve hours after I laid down to go to sleep. Of course, during those twelve hours, I maybe eked out seven hours of sleep, but I can still rise on a Saturday morning at 9:30 without feeling the least bit guilty.
So here, just a wee bit late, is this week's summary:
Music -- For the first time in I can't remember how long, I composed no new music this week.
Writing -- I've finally done it -- I've finally started in on revisions to Fealty and Fire, the second Sadonian Chronicles book. I hope to spend a good chunk of time today working on it, as well as a lot of time over the next few weeks, and maybe -- just maybe -- I'll have it done sometime in May.
Publishing -- I received the proof of my Jingle Bells to look over -- it's a rather monolithic piece, originally composed for the Raleigh Ringers, and finally seeing the light of day. It's also my first level 5 handbell piece, so that's a little exciting, as well (now all I have left to compose is the elusive what-in-the-world-was-he-thinking Level 6).
More of my new releases are also making an appearance online. I discovered my two newest from Alfred on their website yesterday: Go, Tell It on the Mountain and We Adore Thee!. Feel free to explore and take a listen.
That's about all from here. I mainly spent this week trying to balance being a school teacher, a church musician, a private piano teacher, and a composer/writer with also being a new father and all that entails. It's a lot trickier balancing act than I thought, but I hope to figure things out better as the weeks go on. In the meantime, I wish you all luck with your creating!
