Every Saturday, The Creative will feature a brief post about my current creative efforts and how they are progressing. If this doesn't interest you, read no further -- not only will I not be offended, I'll never know. The usual creativity-centric posts will return on Sunday.
It's been one of those crazy weeks where I spent more time at school than I did at home. As a result, my creativity suffered. Maybe that would explain why I'm so cranky ...
Music -- I started a piano arrangement of the hymntune FOREST GREEN, and started one of the handbell arrangements I'm supposed to be writing for Doug Wagner at Lorenz. The handbell arrangement is going better than the piano piece, so I'll likely complete it first. I think once I find the time to compose, it won't take long to finish either piece ... but again, I need the time to just sit down and do it.
Writing -- I've again found myself thinking more about my Sadonian Chronicles series and the fact that I need to get moving on that. I haven't done any actual writing, but I've realized that I need to do something to move it forward. Most of what I thought about was whether or not it was worth my time and effort to seek out a traditional publisher and agent, or if I'd be just as happy getting the book in print through some place like CreateSpace. Still mulling that one over in my head.
Publishing -- I didn't hear from any publishers this week, which isn't always a bad thing. I'm still working on correcting the proofs of my Advent Triptych for Beckenhorst. I like to turn proofs back around in a week or less, but with this one (two compatible sets of arrangements each 15 pages long), it takes a bit more time to be sure everything matches up. Still, I should have those done early next week.
That's it, really. This week has been filled less with the fun creativity I like to do, and more with the everyday rigidly-scheduled activities that help pay the bills and make sure things get done. It hasn't been a bad week, just one where I didn't get my quota of creativity in, and that makes for a grouchy Jason. Hopefully next week's Summary will have a better report. Until then, keep creating!
