Saturday Summary, January 1, 2011

Every Saturday, The Creative will feature a brief post about my current creative efforts and how they are progressing.  If this doesn't interest you, read no further -- not only will I not be offended, I'll never know.  The usual creativity-centric posts will return on Sunday.

A Happy New Year to all of my readers out there!  I wish you all a very blessed 2011, and hope that it will be a better year for you than the last.

Today's Summary will be short -- it's after Christmas, I've still been on break from school, so I've taken a vast quantity of much-needed down time, which means pretty much nothing of any consequence has happened in any of my creative arenas.  Despite that, I can feel myself itching to get back to work come Monday, churning out some much-needed musical projects.

Music -- I've done nothing here.  I've only sat down at the piano twice since last week: once at church Sunday morning for service, and once Thursday as I tried to figure out what to play at church this week.  I've written nothing.  At all.

Writing -- Aside from some haiku and a blog post, nothing here, either.

Publishing -- There's been a bit of stuff here.  I signed some contracts for Beckenhorst and sent them back.  I also received my contracts from Alfred for my Two Carols for Christmas, which should be coming out in the next six months or so.  Those contracts were returned, too.

I'm done with two of the proofs from Beckenhorst and have one final pass to make on the last one before I can send the corrections (remarkably few of them, especially considering how convoluted a couple of those pieces are) back to them.

I also received my composer's copies of my two latest from Ringing Word (which is an imprint of Jeffers): Requiem and Remembrance and In Faith the Triumph.  They both look very nice, and as soon as my wife can find a couple of frames, I'm sure they'll make an appearance up on the walls in my office.

That's it from here.  Next week's Summary should be much fuller, as I ought to actually be working on some projects again.  No clue yet what I'll actually be working on -- part of the rest of today will be spent figuring out my creative goals for the new year.  Rest assured that as I work on new projects, you'll hear about them here.  If you have any ideas to suggest of projects for me to work on, feel free to post them in the comments section below.

Until then, Happy New Year, and happy creating!
