Every Saturday, The Creative will feature a brief post about my current creative efforts and how they are progressing. If this doesn't interest you, read no further -- not only will I not be offended, I'll never know. The usual creativity-centric posts will return on Sunday.
This week has passed in a blur. I can't believe it's time for another Saturday Summary again already. Happily, I do have some news.
Music -- Okay, so I didn't write anything this week, though I have played an inordinately large amount of piano and am working on preparing an insanely large amount of music for various upcoming performances. But yeah, other than that, not so much on the music front, or at least the new music front.
I did get a nice email from Griff Gall of the Back Bay Ringers. They're going to be performing my Winter's Waltz at their holiday concerts, and he was hoping for some notes to use during the concert. It was an interesting experience, writing the notes, since I don't usually think about how I write my pieces when I'm writing my pieces -- they just sort of happen. That's not exactly the sort of thing you can put in program notes, so while I didn't actually make things up, it did feel like a bit of reverse-engineering. Still, it was fun to go back and get a little personal with one of my old pieces again.
Writing -- I suppose the program notes could just have easily been mentioned here ... but I'm not going to mention them again.
Publishing -- I received three proofs and three contracts this week for some upcoming releases from Beckenhorst. Sadly, I'm not going to get a chance to look the proofs over for about another week, but I've got those to look forward to. My proofs from Beckenhorst always are so well done, and Bob Currier always makes them look so nice. Even now that I've got two dozen or so pieces in print, it's still an exciting moment when I'm looking over a proof for the first time.
I'm sure I've had some other news-worthy things happen this week, but as I said, it's been such a blur I can't remember everything that's happened. Hopefully by next Saturday, I'll have a better handle on my existence and what all is going on. Until then, feel free to share your creative endeavors in the comments section below.
