I realize it's with greater and greater infrequency that I'm posting here, but for now, at least' I'll blame the holiday season, one of the craziest times in the life of a musician.
However, now that the holidays are done, I suppose I've lost that excuse and need to post on a more regular basis.
The problem is, there hasn't really been all that much to post of late. It appears that the holiday season has caught up to all of the publishers and editors, as well. Since my last post, I've only heard from one publisher, and that was Craig Courtney at Beckenhorst, who passed on a couple of my SATB choral pieces, which I then sent on elsewhere.
It's also been pitifully slow on the composition front. I haven't really had time to update the Year of Insanity lately, though I know there are pieces I've written which aren't there, most of them organ postludes or preludes. I hope to get that caught up now that the holidays are over, as well as get back into the business of actually writing music. Fortunately, I think the month of January will ease me back into my routine, so I should have time to get some pieces completed before the mad rush that is February comes along (not that February is really all that much of a mad rush, but compared to January, it is).
In the online front, I see many choirs played my O Come, O Come Emmanuel which was featured in the AGEHR Overtones magazine. It's very gratifying to see so many groups which used it (including my own). I just hope it brought a little bit of the majesty and awe of the holiday season to your services and congregations. Also, the audio files of my two newest from Beckenhorst (Christ is Alive! and Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing) are up on the Stanton's website. Very nicely done recordings, and very much like I heard the pieces in my head.
Also, my string arrangement of We Three Kings is available for listening, viewing, and purchase on the Lorenz site.
Nothing would make me happier than to say I have several projects lined up to work on, but the fact of the matter is I have a stack of maybe a dozen or more manuscripts in various sorts of disarray which are begging my attention, and I have no clue yet which I'll get to first. I hope to use the time between now and the start of next week sorting through them and coming up with a plan of action, and if I'm good and decide to post on a more frequent basis here, I'll likely share said Plan of Action with all of you.
In the meantime, thank you all for your support and interest in my music. It is a blessing to have people who pay attention to my music, but it is even more of a blessing for me to be able to offer my songs to you. No matter what music you're listening to, may the peace and joy of the season bring light to your life, and may your new year be overflowing with new and exciting possibilities.
