August has come and gone, and with it, six new pieces. I finished the last one, a SATB choral piece called In the Silence just this past weekend, and sent both it and Raise Your Voice to Highest Heaven off to Beckenhorst for consideration. As near as I can tell, that puts me two pieces ahead of the game, but I hope not to squander that advantage. Right now I'm working on finishing up another string orchestra piece, this time an original, and after that ... who knows?
I also have already seen and approved the proofs for the string orchestra arrangement of We Three Kings. Over the course of about an hour and a half on Saturday, I exchanged maybe a half dozen emails with Lynne Latham, and at the end of it, she sent a .pdf of the proof. Fastest turn-around time I've ever seen on a piece before, not that I'm complaining.
I should hear about some of my other pieces in the next few weeks -- it's starting to reach that minimum two-month time limit most publishers give as the fastest they'll respond on submissions, and rest assured I'll post any news I hear right here.
Onward and upward!
