Sleepy Sunday Evening

It's been several weeks since I've posted, and I'd like to say wonderful things have happened musically-wise, but I really can't. I've still got four pieces making the rounds, so I'm still hopeful on those. I have another ten or so in the first-rough-draft stage which are just waiting for me to take a look at them and tweak them -- all that thanks to InMuWriJu -- as well as another ten or so in a not-quite-finished state. I've got a couple weeks before school starts, and so should have time to get a couple of those around and sent off before then.

In other events, we've had another loss in our family. My parent's cat (my adoptive feline brother, as it were) has passed away. Mr. Kitty had FIV (the feline equivalent of HIV) and had been wasting away for a few weeks, and finally passed on last weekend. He was a dear friend to my mom and dad, and a loving little cat. He showed up on my parent's back porch five years ago, and was my mom's constant companion ever since. He will be sorely missed.

On the good-news side of the ledger, my wife and I just returned from a week on the beautiful island of Kaua'i. The scenery was absolutely awe-inspiring, some of the most breathtaking country God placed upon this Earth. Aside from a rather nasty sunburn, it was an absolutely perfect week -- relaxing, restful, and rejuvinating on almost every level. I can only hope that the time there will infuse my music and writing with new life and inspiration. If you haven't made it to the Hawai'ian islands, I urge you to make plans to do so at some point in the future -- the trip is well worth it.
